The Westport Historical Society relies on the support of our local friends to fund our many educational activities and efforts in Kansas City on behalf of Westport. Your monetary support will help because Westport Historical Society is responsible for the Harris-Kearney House, a museum dedicated to Westport’s historical artifacts, research and literature. And your funding also makes it possible to mark the historic buildings and sites within Westport, and to make research efforts possible!

​We invite local individuals and businesses to help us make all our future endeavors, including research and maintenance on the Harris-Kearney House, possible. Please note that because the Westport Historical Society is a 501 (c)(3)non-profit society, your donations are fully deductible for income tax purposes.

The Westport Historical Society members hope your sponsorship will give you a certain amount of satisfaction from contributing to a worthwhile educational effort. Your funding will allow our efforts to continue.  We maintain an endowment with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.  We have received the check mark of approval for our financial responsibility as a charitable organization from the Foundation.

In October 2006 we launched a major capital campaign for restoration work and stabilization of the Harris Kearney House. We have completed a portion of that work, thanks to our annual sponsors and business partners! Enhancements of our display gallery and interior areas are underway. The exterior plantings and landscape are being reconditioned, and we have a perimeter fence. We thank our volunteers and friends for their splendid donation of time, talent and funds.  Without them, we could not continue our programs.
