The Quarterly Dinner Information:


Friday, November 13, 2009:

Held at Homestead Country Club, 6510 Mission Road, Priarie Village, KS

Dinner--Social is at 6:00 and dinner is at 6:30.

Presentation by Terence O'Malley will follow.

Topic Description: Mr. O'Malley will discuss and present clips from his latest documentary film Black Hand Strawman ~ The History of Organized Crime in Kansas City. In conducting his research Mr. O'Malley was provided access to organized crime family archives, photographs, home movies, as well as prosecution files and FBI files. The title references the beginning of organized crime in Kansas City during the so-called Black Hand Period which typically was Sicilian upon Sicilian Crime through the hey-day of organized crime in the late 1970s and early 1980s when the organized crime strike force brought down the mob with the Strawman investigations and prosecutions. The subject matter also covers prohibition, the Pendergast era and the oft-forgotten Binaggio era during the 1940s. DVDs of the film Black Hand Strawman will be available as well as Mr. O'Malley's prior works Nelly Don: A Stitch in Time, both the documentary film and the book.
